Dr. Place was born in South Africa and moved to California for high school. She attended Monte Vista High School and graduated with honors. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga. Dr. Place graduated with honors and was awarded the Carlos Frietas Award for Outstanding Scholarship as Biology major.
