Buttock Lift Conveniently located to serve San Ramon and San Francisco
Loose skin and relaxation of the tissue around the buttock or lateral thigh area after weight loss or with ageing can be lifted using a buttock lift. A buttock lift is a surgical procedure designed to reshape the look, shape, and size of a patient’s backside. While a butt lift alone will not add volume, it removes excess skin and fat in this region to give the buttocks a well-toned, aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Why choose a buttock lift
With age, your skin will eventually lose elasticity and begin to sag. Fluctuations in weight and life experiences like pregnancy also contribute to these changes. A buttock lift can help you eliminate this excess skin and recontour the buttocks. Many women choose to undergo this procedure to feel secure in comfortable in their bodies.
Preparing for a butt lift
Since this is a cosmetic surgery, you will first need to schedule a consultation with Dr. Michelle Place. During this time you can talk about your reasons for getting this surgery and mention your expectations. Dr. Place will perform an initial examination of your body to and ask you about your medical history to ascertain your current state of health. She will also take pictures for before and after comparisons.
As part of the surgery preparation, you will have to give up smoking, alcohol, and quit certain medications. You should have maintained a set weight for at least 6 months before the surgery.
During the Procedure
This procedure is performed in Dr. Place’s plastic surgery center in San Ramon, CA. Dr. Place will administer an anesthetic to help you feel comfortable during the surgical process and then proceed with making the necessary incisions.
The scar is placed just above the buttock and the surgery can remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the lower back and the buttocks and elevate and shape the buttocks. In some patients, after massive weight loss, sitting can be uncomfortable due to loss of fatty tissue of the bones. The excess skin instead of being discarded, will be used to augment the buttock area to create a better shape and provide some padding for the bones. If the excess is laterally over the outer thighs, the procedure can be used to contour and remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the outer thighs.
The procedure takes 2-3 hours depending on the amount of loose skin and the procedure can be performed as an outpatient procedure or with an overnight stay depending on the how extensive the procedure is and the patients general health. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a fully accredited private surgery center.
After the surgery, the incision area is dressed, and drains are inserted in different areas. These drains help to get rid of excess fluids which may leak after extensive surgery. You will be prescribed pain medication to help manage any post-surgical discomfort and antibiotics to inhibit bacteria build-up.
Activity level and weight resistance is restricted for 2-3 weeks and then light aerobic exercise for 3-4 weeks with adding weight resistance and increasing intensity to a full work out by 6-8 weeks. Sit-ups and push- ups can be started at 6-8 weeks. Sitting for long periods is discouraged in the first 2 weeks but standing and reclining does not put any tension on the incisions.
